Superintendent John Westerman will be sticking around, at least for another year.

The Newburg administrator received a one-year contract extension from the Board of Education during Tuesday’s meeting.

Westerman, who has been superintendent since July, asked the board to consider the contract extension to his existing two-year contract, set to expire in 2011.

“John (Westerman) has made a positive impact on our district, and his contract extension is a reflection of that,” said Ron Smith, board president.

However, the board made no decision on raising the $84,000 superintendent salary, because of a uncertain budget and a lack of an official salary schedule for the superintendent.
