The Rolla football team traveled to Borgia for the second round of Districts on Friday, Nov. 2. The Bulldogs got into an early hole against the Knights that they couldn't dig out of in a 52-14 loss.

Borgia gave Rolla a lucky break out of the gate, fumbling in the red zone early in the opening quarter. Rolla failed to take advantage, however, as Jack Hounsom threw an interception soon after. Borgia then quickly got on the board with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Sam Heggemann to Tyler Gloseman late in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs punted again on their next drive and their defense ran into some tough luck on the ensuing Borgia drive to open the second quarter. Heggemann passed into triple coverage down the right side of the field, but the ball tipped off the hands of Elijah Young and found it's way to Tyler Stiefferman, who went 80-yards for a touchdown on the play. Borgia followed that with a punt return touchdown by Glosemeyer, taking a 21-0 lead with 9:26 left to play in the quarter. Borgia added one more field goal before the half, taking a 24-0 lead into the break.

Rolla got a big spark to open the second half, as Young returned the opening kickoff to the Borgia 30-yard line. Trey Quick eventually plunged in for a short score and Rolla was finally on the board, but still trailing 24-7. Turnovers continued to plague Rolla in the second half, as a fumble led to another Borgia touchdown. Louis Eckelkamp eventually punched in a seven-yard score to put Borgia back in the driver's seat. The Bulldogs responded with a touchdown on the ensuing drive, as Hounsom found Young for a 23-yard strike over the middle of the field, cutting the score to 31-14. The Knights found the end zone one more time in the third quarter, as Heggemann found Cole Meyer for a 75-yard strike late in the quarter.

Another Rolla fumble helped Borgia extend their lead in the fourth, as Eckelkamp found the end zone again on a 30-yard run. He added another touchdown later in the fourth to put the finishing touches on a 52-14 Borgia win.

In the end, Rolla turned over the ball four times, three of which led to points from the Knights.

Offensively, Rolla combined for 238 yards in total. Hounsom passed for 196 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He added 36 yards on the ground. Trey Quick ran for just 35 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Blaize Klossner caught 10 passes for 116 yards in his return from injury, but fumbled twice in the second half. Young caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown.
