The Rolla football team (5-3) hosted Camdenton for Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 12. The Bulldogs couldn't keep pace with the high-flying Laker offense in a 56-13 loss.

Camdenton got started with a bang on Friday night, scoring on their first two drives while holding Rolla to three punts, one of which was blocked. Paxton DeLaurent had a big night for the Lakers and that started with a 20-yard score to Dylan Tufts. He then hit Lathan Wise for a 24-yard touchdowns, before a 34-yard score to Cash Calton.

Rolla was able to settle a bit after the three quick scores. Their final drive of the first quarter was the first positive drive of the night. As the second quarter began, Rolla was driving, but a missed field goal thwarted their hopes of getting on the board. While the missed field goal slowed down Rolla, they still seemed to have some momentum and the Bulldog defense came up big time on the ensuing drive. Camdenton fumbled a snap a few plays into their next drive, but DeLaurent was able to gather the ball up. He tried to make a play and at least get back to the first down marker, but he fumbled as the Bulldog defense took him down. Rolla took advantage and scored a quick touchdown on a pass from Jack Hounsom to Elijah Young.

Unfortunately, that was where Rolla's luck died out. The Lakers missed a field goal of their own on their next drive, but went on to score touchdowns on three straight drives before the half. Rolla, meanwhile, was held off the scoreboard for the rest of the half. DeLaurent threw for each of Camdenton's touchdowns in the second quarter and in doing so, set some new school records. First he hit Gabe Kurtz for a 28-yard score, before a 21-yard strike to Tufts to tie his head coach Jeff Shore's school record for passing touchdowns in a season. He then hit Lathan Wise for an 81-yard touchdown to break the record. He also set a new school record for yards in a season in the opening half. Camdenton would go into the break with a 42-7 lead.

Camdenton would score two more touchdowns in the third quarter with the turbo clock in effect. First Eli Griffin punched in a four-yard score, before DeLaurent hit cooper Ezard for a 26-yard touchdown. Rolla was able to find the end zone once in the second half, as Hounsom ran for a 21-yard touchdown in the final minutes of the contest. Camdenton won the game 56-13.

For the second straight game, Rolla struggled to establish their ground game, rushing for seven total yards. Rolla was able to get the passing game going a little bit, as Hounsom completed 20 of his 37 pass attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown to go with an interception. RJ Alfred was Rolla's leading receiver with 42 yards on two catches, Blaize Klossner caught six passes for 35 yards before aggravating a leg injury.

Rolla just could not slow down DeLaurent and the Camdenton passing attack. He threw for 518 yards and seven touchdowns in the contest. Lathan Wise caught five passes for 142 yards and two scores to lead the way for the Laker receivers.

The Bulldogs will look to snap their two game losing streak when they host Springfield Central for Senior Night on Friday, Oct. 19.
