The Missouri State Highway Patrol is now investigating the small plane crash at Rolla National Airport that occurred Monday evening, and will forward their findings to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District along with Phelps County Ambulance, Phelps County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the Rolla National Airport at 5:40 p.m. on Monday for a small plane crash.

It was reported that the pilot had received minor injuries but refused any medical treatment, according to the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District.

The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District was told the pilot had left the scene but the plane was sitting in a brushy area off the side of the runway upon the department’s arrival. Firefighters checked the plane for any leaks as well as making sure the power system was shut off, according to the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District.
