According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Nancy Brooks, 65, of Richland, was passing Ryszard Szpulak, 59, of Canada, when Brooks lost control on Sun., Oct. 7, 2018.

An accident in Laclede County leaves two from Richland with injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Nancy Brooks, 65, of Richland, was passing Ryszard Szpulak, 59, of Canada, when Brooks lost control on Sun., Oct. 7, 2018. The vehicle Brooks was driving traveled off the left side of the road, struck the guardrail twice and returned to the road. The vehicle Brooks was driving came to rest partially in the right lane. The vehicle Szpulak was driving swerved to avoid the other vehicle and traveled off the left side of the road. The vehicle Szpulak was driving struck a guardrail and came to rest on the bridge rail.

The accident occurred at 4:11 p.m.

Driver Brooks had moderate injuries. Occupant Thomas Brooks, 74, of Richland, had minor injuries. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon.

The accident occurred on I-44 westbound in Laclede County at the 139.4 mile marker, nine miles east of Lebanon.

All the individuals involved were wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles involved were totaled.
