The Waynesville Middle School will host an Open House of the new 118,565 square foot academic wing from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.

“We invite members of the community to take a moment to stop by for a self-guided tour and see all that the facility has to offer,” said Dr. Brian Henry, superintendent. “For those who have been around here for some time, the contrast is evident between the dark, crowded hallways and classrooms of the old building and the open, bright airy atmosphere of the new academic wing.”

A brief presentation will be given from 1 to 1:15 p.m., followed by the unveiling of an artist’s rendering of Phase 2 of the middle school remodeling project. During the remainder of the time, the public may come and go as they please and tour the facilities at their leisure. Light snacks will be served in the popular new cafeteria.

Construction of the facility included 50 classrooms and 8 science labs and the final cost is expected to be around $18.2 million. The construction was funded by Federal B-2 Heavily Impacted Aid. Middle school students moved into the building at the start of the 2018-19 school year.
