The Rolla volleyball team (4-3) bounced back from a tough loss on Wednesday by dominating Union in a two set sweep on Thursday, Sept. 13.

Rolla got out to a hot start with a 25-10 win in the first set, before finishing off the night with a 25-16 win. The Lady Bulldogs were able to get those two sweeps thanks to a much improved passing and hitting night on Thursday. Sophie Moreland had a great night passing, with a 2.77 percentage on a three-point scale. Rolla used that improved passing to have 20 kills and just four errors.

Rebecca Janke was Rolla's top hitter on the night with seven kills on nine attempts. Shelby Ply and Megan Brown each added five kills in the win, while Sophie Parsons chipped in with two and Kayla Copeland added one more. Loran Pritchett and Parsons tied for the team lead in assists with eight. Janke and Ply each had eight earned points in the victory.

"We played well last night," said head coach Stephanie Pritchett on the win. "Great passing, great hitting, good defense and good blocking!"

The JV and freshmen also had hard-fought wins on the night. the JV swept their match, but it didn't come easy. They needed more than 25 points to win each set, but strong finishes gave them the sweep 26-24, 27-25. The freshmen dropped their first set 20-25, but pulled off two great wins in the second and third sets 25-23, 25-23.

Rolla's busy week doesn't slow down quite yet, as they'll play in the Show Me Show Down at West Plains on Saturday. They'll play pool play games against Mt. Home, Harrison, Ark. and Blair Oaks. The JV and freshmen will also play in tournaments, as the JV plays in the Jefferson City Invitational and the freshmen play in the Helias Ninth Grade Tournament.
