The Rolla soccer team (3-1) finished off play in the Pacific Tournament by facing the host school in the fifth place game on Friday, Sept. 7. This was the second matchup between Rolla and Pacific this season and it had a similar result to the first, with the Bulldogs cruising to a 6-0 win.

Jarret Gabriele and Evan Moore continued their great scoring pace to open the season with a pair of goals each. Gabriele now has a team-high seven goals on the season, while Moore is one behind with six. The Bulldogs also got goals from midfielders Mohamad Alamaldiem and Carson Arnold. Arnold added to assists, while Adeeb Messri and Gabe Stanislawski each added a dime in the shutout win.

Stanislawski also earned All-Tournament recognition for the Bulldogs. He scored a goal and had two assists in the tournament from the Rolla midfield.

Rolla finished the tournament 2-1. The Bulldogs faced Washington in the first round of the tournament, falling to last season's Class 3 State runner-up 2-1. Rolla then made quick work of the consolation bracket, beating Warrenton with the mercy rule 11-1 before their victory over Pacific on Friday.

“We would have loved to have been on the winner side of the bracket and had the opportunity to play in those games. At the end of the day, we are a better team for the loss we took in the first round," said head coach Mike Howard on the tournament. "Ozark Conference play starts Tuesday for us and Parkview is a place we have always struggled to play well."

Tuesday's matchup with Parkview will be the first of two games for the Bulldogs this week. After they travel to Springfield for the conference play, Rolla will host Jefferson City on Wednesday.
