Local runners Izzy Frost and Mike Counts had a big weekend when they ran at Sweatfest in Strafford, MO on Saturday, July 7. The pair both broke state records in their age divisions in the two-mile race.

Counts and Frost finished back to back with times of 12:28 and 12:34, respectively. Those times put them both in the top 10 overall on their way to school records for their age.

Counts, a 46-year-old Rolla resident, finished in seventh place overall on his way to his state record.

Frost, a 12-year-old Rolla Junior High schooler, finished in eighth place overall with her time of 12:34. Her state record for 12-year-olds is also the sixth best time for any female runner in the state of Missouri.

Patrick Frost, Izzy's father, also ran in the race, but couldn't quite get the state record in his age division. The 44-year-old finished in 13th place with a time of 13:03.32.

All three runners will compete in the annual Missouri State Show Me Games later this month. The track and field events will be held July 27-29.
