The Rolla girls soccer team (15-9) saw their season come to a close in the first round of Districts on Tuesday, May 15. After weather pushed their game back a day, Rolla couldn't get their offense going in a 3-0 loss to Washington.
The game was scoreless until the 25th minute when Washington found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. They scored again with four minutes left to play in the half, carrying a 2-0 lead into the break. One more goal in the second half sealed Rolla's fate in a 3-0 loss.
While the Lady Bulldogs' season ended sooner than they hoped, you can't overlook the impressive season they had in 2018. A young team that came into the season with few expectations went on to fall one game short of an Ozark Conference Title. The future is still very bright for Rolla soccer, despite losing some excellent seniors.
"I'm very proud of the season that our team had," said head coach Mike Howard. "We won 15 games against a difficult schedule. We got better each game. We finished 8-1 in the Ozark Conference, had a good win versus Rock Bridge, so there are lots of reasons to be happy. Not to mention they are just a fun group of girls."
