Rolla native Izzy Frost made history when she ran in the St. Louis Girls on the Run 5K on Saturday, May 12.

The Rolla seventh grader was the top overall finisher in the race, marking the first time a female competitor was the overall winner in over 10 years.

Frost crossed the finish line in 19:56, claiming the top spot over more than 7,300 competitors. This milestone came after Frost broke the Rolla Junior High 800m run record at the Ozark Conference Meet with a time of 2:36.

The Rolla seventh grader was in great company on Saturday, as her running mate Mike Counts was right behind her in second place overall with a time of 20:22. Frost's father, Patrick, also ran an exceptional race, finishing 10th overall and second in his division with a time of 22:04.
