A St. James man is charged with Statutory Sodomy.  Jeffrey Lynn White, age 27, was arrested following an investigation into a report of sexual abuse.

On Feb. 20, 2018, the Missouri Children’s Division was notified via a hotline call that a female had been sexually abused at her residence in rural Phelps County. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Missouri Children’s Division with assistance from the St. James Police Department.

According to the probable cause statement, a brief interview was held with the victim, who told the reporting officer she had been sexually abused. Court documents said a forensic interview of the child was conducted in St. Robert on Feb. 22. During the interview, the victim audibly disclosed, according to the probable cause statement, that White engaged in several counts of sexual behavior.

On Feb. 26, White came to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department where he was interviewed. After being given his Miranda rights, white allegedly confirmed the allegations.

According to the probable cause statement, the exact dates of the occurrences were not determined, however the time period was determined to be from Jan. 12, 2018 to Feb. 20, 2018.

White’s bond was set at $500,000.
