The Rolla girls basketball team (8-9, 2-1 OC) faced off against Hillcrest for an Ozark Conference game on Thursday, Jan. 25. The Lady Bulldogs had a solid first half before running away with things in the second on the way to a 78-42 win.

Rolla got out to a great start offensively with 19 points in the first quarter. Seven different players scored for Rolla in the first, led by six points by Rebecca Janke. Hillcrest was able to keep pace thanks to a pair of threes from Kelly Tran, but Rolla still went into the second quarter with a 19-12 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs kept rolling in the second quarter with another 14 points. Janke continued to be a force in the paint alongside Loran Pritchett. Janke scored another five points to bring her first half total to 11, while Pritchett added another four points. Hillcrest stayed within striking distance thanks to another three and five points from Tran, as Rolla went into the half with a 33-25. 

While Rolla was solid in the first half, they absolutely dominated the second. The Lady Bulldogs were unstoppable under the basket in the third quarter, with their three forwards combining for 27 points. Pritchett went off for 11 points, while Janke added another nine. Senior forward Mattie Dean chipped in another six in the quarter. Hillcrest scored 15 points thanks to a trio of threes, but they couldn't keep up with the Lady Bulldogs and Rolla stretched their lead out to 62-40 with a quarter to play.

The Lady Bulldogs buried Hillcrest in the fourth. The Lady Hornets managed just two points, while Rolla just kept scoring. Pritchett added another eight points in a 16-point quarter for Rolla. The turbo clock kicked into gear as Rolla stretched their lead above 30 points in a 78-42 win.

"We got off to a slow start and played pretty flat the first half. After halftime we really picked up our energy and effort and things really started to click," said head coach Luke Floyd. "Loran and Rebecca had great games, as well as Mattie. Our guards did a great job of looking for and feeding them all night long." 

Pritchett led all scorers with 27 points, while adding five rebounds and a steal. Janke recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds to go along with a block and an assist. Dean added another nine points and seven boards, while Ellie Rodgers scored seven points with a team a seven assists, three steals, a block and a rebound.

Rolla will be back on their home court on Monday, Jan. 29 when they host Helias.
