The Newburg boys basketball team (10-4, 1-2 FL) traveled to Plato for a Frisco League contest on Friday, Jan. 12. Newburg struggled to get their offense going in a 62-41 loss.

The Wolves were able to keep pace early on, scoring 12 points in the first quarter to trail by three points. Both teams scored 15 more in the second, so Newburg went into the half trailing 30-27.

After the half, Newburg struggled to find the basket. Plato scored another 13 points in the third before going off for 19 points in the fourth, while Newburg scored a total of 14 points in the second half in a 62-41 loss.

Landen Callahan led the Wolves with 13 points, while Ryan Terry chipped in with another 10 and Travis McWilliams scored nine. Grady Todd led all scorers with 26 points for Plato.

Newburg will look to shake off that loss as they head into the St. James Tournament this week. The Wolves are the seventh seed in the tournament and will kick things off against Blair Oaks on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
