The Newburg girls basketball team hosted Plato on Monday, Jan. 8. The Lady Wolves couldn't keep pace in the contest, falling 57-40.
Newburg couldn't get their shots to fall quite as well as Plato, making 14 of their 48 shots in the contest. Plato, meanwhile, took one more shot but made 21 in the 57-40 win. Plato also won the battle on the boards, with 34 rebounds to Newburg's 25. Turnovers also hurt the Lady Wolves, as Newburg turned the ball over 26 times and were able to get 13 steals.
Kaylee Skinner led the Lady Wolves in points with 16 points and four steals. She also pulled in four rebounds and two assists, but turned the ball over nine times. Kylie Brookshire recorded yet another double-double with 10 points and 12 boards in the loss. She also had two steals, two blocks and an assist.
Newburg's next game was slated to be on Thursday, Jan. 11 against Richland, but weather concerns caused the game to be pushed back to Thursday, Feb. 8. Their next game will now be at Crocker on Monday, Jan. 15.
