The St. James girls basketball team (2-1) traveled to Cuba for their first road game of the season on Monday, Dec. 4. After leading through the first three quarters, the Lady Tigers couldn't finish things off in the fourth to lose 43-41.

St. James and Cuba kicked things off by matching each other's scoring output in the first quarter, as both teams scored 10 points in the opening frame. The Lady Tigers were able to take control of the game in the second quarter thanks to a 13-point quarter, while holding Cuba to eight points. That second quarter gave St. James a 23-18 lead going into the half. 

The third quarter mirrored the first, as both teams scored seven points in a defensive battle. The game came down to the fourth where Cuba went off. Cuba scored 18 points in the final quarter and St. James couldn't match in a 43-41 loss.

Turnovers sank St. James in the loss, as they turned the ball over 25 times, while getting 12 steals on the defensive side of the ball. The Lady Tigers also had a rough night shooting, making 13 of their 41 shots in the loss, while going 10-20 from the free throw line. Savanna Riccetti led St. James with nine points, while adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Mikaela Donnelly added seven points, three rebounds and an assist. Bailey Wells had a great night on the boards with 12 rebounds, while scoring three points, dishing out five assists and grabbing two steals. Ashlyn Rinehart chipped in with four points, seven rebounds, four steals and an assist.

The Lady Tigers hosted St. Genevieve on Wednesday, Dec. 6, but results were not available at press time. Their next game will be on the road against Blair Oaks on Thursday, Dec. 7.
