The Rolla cross country team ran in the Sectional meet at Ha Ha Tonk Park in Camdenton on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Lady Bulldogs had their entire team run, while the boys were represented by Alex Frisbee. Rolla had a great day in the cold weather, as Emma Puetz and Krista Hilmas both punched their tickets to State with top 30 finishes.

Puetz is headed to State for the second straight season with another fantastic finish. The sophomore runner improved on last year's Sectional finish by 18 spots to snag a 10th place finish with a time of 19:12, which was almost a full minute and a half faster than she ran in the race last season.

Hilmas will join her sophomore teammate at State this weekend thanks to a 23rd place finish and a time of 19:45. Last season, Hilmas finished in 56th. The senior improved on her time from last season by over two and a half minutes.

Just missing the cut was Olivia Holmes, who finished with a time of 21 minutes flat. Next to cross the line was Kate Campbell in 68th with a time of 22:42. Faith Aguilarleon and Emma Starnes finished back to back in 73rd and 74th with times of 25:36 and 26:11. The Lady Bulldogs finished in eighth as a team, so they were not able to advance to State as a unit.

Alex Frisbee finished in 69th place with a time of 17:55 in the highly competitive boys race.

The State meet will be run at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City. The two Lady Bulldogs will run at about 11:20.
