ROLLA, Mo. – Since Missouri S&T's first year of play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2005, a familiar foe for the Miners in the GLVC Men's Soccer Tournament has been a school that started play in the conference in the same year. That opponent – Rockhurst – is on tap for the Miners Sunday when the teams face off in an opening round match in the tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

The game begins at 1 p.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 in Indianapolis against the winner of the Bellarmine-Indianapolis contest.

The Miners, making their 11th appearance in the GLVC Tournament, are meeting the Hawks for the fourth time in the event and are looking to pick up their first win over the eighth-ranked Hawks in the tournament.  Rockhurst knocked off S&T in opening round contests in 2005 and 2011 and eliminated the Miners in the semifinals two years ago.

S&T earned its berth to the tournament after playing to a 4-4 tie Wednesday against Wisconsin-Parkside and brings records of 7-6-3 overall and 6-6-2 in the GLVC into the contest.   Felipe Andrade (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/) recorded the first hat trick by a Miner since 2006 by scoring three goals in Wednesday's game, including the game-tying goal in the 75th minute that turned out to be the tally that got S&T into the tournament.

Andrade, who leads the Miners in scoring with eight goals and 19 points, moved into third place on the career list at Missouri S&T with 27 goals and 67 points following Wednesday's action.

David Murphy (Naperville, IL/Naperville Central) has added six goals and has 15 points on the season, while Unnar Ulfarsson (Gardabaer, Iceland/Fjolnir Reykjavik) has three goals and seven assists – which is tied for second in the GLVC – for 13 points.

Aaron Hohenstein (St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South) leads the GLVC and is ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in saves with 107 on the year and brings a 1.58 goals against average and three shutouts into Sunday's match.  The 107 saves are the sixth-most in a season in S&T history.

ABOUT ROCKHURST: The eighth-ranked Hawks bring a 13-1-2 overall record into Sunday's contest and won the GLVC regular season title for the third consecutive year with a 12-1-1 mark.  Rockhurst suffered its first loss of the season last weekend at Bellarmine, but rebounded with a win at Indianapolis two days later and then closed the regular season with 3-1 Wednesday at Illinois Springfield.

Rockhurst comes into the tournament as the highest-scoring team in the GLVC with 35 goals on the year, led by Kaleb Jackson's 11.  Jackson is tied for the league lead in goals and is the top overall scorer with 28 points, while Adam Michel has scored seven times and Umoh Ufot has tallied six goals.  Ben McDonald is tied with Jackson for the team lead in assists with six.

Logan Feldmann, who has played every minute in goal this season for the Hawks, has a 0.55 goals against average which ranks seventh in NCAA Division II.  Feldmann has also recorded eight shutouts this season, including one against the Miners when the Hawks took a 2-0 decision in Kansas City on Oct. 1.

The first matchup between the teams was scoreless at the half, but the Hawks scored goals early – on a penalty kick – and late in the second half to end a four-game Missouri S&T winning streak.
