Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners ended its 2017 season with a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Wednesday afternoon at the S&T Soccer Field. The win over the Rangers (3-12-2, 2-9-2 GLVC) is the first ever win over Parkside in the history of the series.

S&T had the wind in the first half and controlled play outshooting the Rangers 7-2 and 3-1 in shots on goal. Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) scored in the 30th minute to break the scoreless deadlock. Mockenhaupt received a pass from Carli Tastad (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West), dribbled and fired a shot from the left wing into the upper right corner for her second goal of the season.

Parkside had a chance to tie the game less than a minute later but Liz Carrano (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) made the save to keep the Lady Miners in front. S&T had a couple of more opportunities in the half but were only able to get one on goal which was saved.

The Rangers were looking for the equalizer after the break and had some good chances outshooting the Lady Miners 6-1 and 5-1 in shots on goal but Carrano made five saves including a couple of diving ones that she knocked out of play for corner kicks.

Each side finished the contest with eight shots but Parkside had a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Carrano made six saves to earn her second shutout of the season.

S&T finishes its season with a record 2-13-1, 2-11-1 GLVC.
