The Rolla soccer team (17-3, 6-1 OC) had their backs against the wall when they faced off against Kickapoo on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Trailing by a goal with 14 minutes left on the clock, Mohamad Alamaldiem stepped up to knock in two goals to lead Rolla, now the 4th ranked team in Class 3, to a 3-2 lead over their Ozark Conference rival.

The Bulldogs didn't have great energy in the first half, but they still managed to get out to a 1-0 lead early when Gabe Stanislawski buried a shot for an unassisted goal early in the contest. Kickapoo came back with goal in the 34th minute by Garrett Whorton. That goal tied the game at one and that score would carry into the half.

Kickapoo continued to control the game with a goal in the 62nd minute by Jake Troye, taking the lead mid-way through the second half. That goal wake up call for the Bulldogs and Alamaldiem kicked into action. He scored his first goal in the 68th minute off an assist from Jarret Gabriel to tie the match at two. Then in the 74th minute Nick Janke headed a ball, which Alamaldiem redirected into the net for the game winner.

"Historically it has been a very difficult place for us to win. It’s only the third time (1993, 2013, 2017) we have won at Kickapoo in boys soccer in my 27 years here," said head coach Mike Howard. "Glad we found a way to win but we will certainly need to play better this weekend to get a good result in either game."

Rolla still has a busy weekend ahead of them as they host the Thomas Whitefield Games. They'll face off against two ranked opponents when they face off against #9 Harrisonville and #10 Parkway Central. They played Harrisonville Friday afternoon, but results were not available at press time. They'll play Parkway Central Saturday at 10 a.m.
