The Rolla volleyball team (18-11-3, 6-5 OC) traveled to Springfield for an Ozark Conference matchup with Glendale on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The Bulldogs didn't play their cleanest game of the season, but they still managed to pull out a 25-21, 25-23 win.
The freshmen started the night with a loss in straight sets 11-25, 12-25. The JV then made quick work of the Lady Falcons, winning in straight sets 25-18, 25-13.
Shelby Ply had another great all around game for the Lady Bulldogs. She was second on the team in kills with six on just 10 attempts. She also added two aces and was a part of four blocks, three of which were solo blocks. Rolla had a rough passing night, as they committed 16 errors on digs. Rolla managed to cover come some of those passing issues, however, to pull out a win in straight sets. Loran Pritchett played a big role in that with 15 assists, while also playing a strong defensive game. Megan Brown and Rebecca Janke remained consistently strong in their hitting games. Brown led the team with seven kills, while Janke added five kills and two assisted blocks.
"We played good on defense and offense, but passed poorly and missed too many serves. Megan, Shelby and Rebecca had good offensive games. Loran played well defensively and with setting," said head coach Stephanie Pritchett. "We seemed a little frenetic at times. We just needed to get good passes and we couldn’t do that consistently.
Next up for Rolla is a trip to Camdenton on Thursday, Oct. 12 for their regular season finale.
"We have a shot at win 19 Thursday night and hope to clean things up a bit," said coach Pritchett. "I’m excited about what we can do in Districts next week, but we want to finish strong Thursday night against Camdenton."
