The Rolla golf team had two representatives at the Class 2 Missouri State Golf Championships on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11. Audrey Collier and Marliere Toothaker played in the two day tournament, but fell short of medalling.
Toothaker was the top finisher for Rolla, finishing in 59th place. The sophomore shot a 90 on the first day, which saw nearly perfect weather outside of heat. Mother Nature was not as kind on the second day, as play was pushed back an hour due to lightning and rain. Toothaker pushed through the rough weather and actually improved on her day one score, shooting an 89 for a two-day total of 179.
Collier wasn't far behind her teammate, finishing in 79th place. Collier was just a stroke behind Toothaker after day one, shooting a 91. The rain hit the Rolla junior a bit harder, as she shot a 100 on day two for a two-day score of 191.
St. Joseph's Academy won the event as a team with a team score of 623. They beat second place Notre Dame de Sion by 10 strokes. Notre Dame also had the top individual in Megan Propeck. She shot a 141 to beat Camdenton's Amber Wilson by two strokes.
