The Rolla cross country team ran in the Camdenton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30. Rolla had four medalists in the varsity and JV races, with a seventh place team finish from the boys varsity and a ninth place team finish from the boys JV. The girls teams did not have enough runners for a team score. It was a solid showing for Rolla, as 18 of their 20 runners finished the race with season bests.

Emma Puetz had yet another fantastic race, but for the first time this season she didn't win the girls varsity race. The sophomore runner finished in second place with a time of 19:05 to earn a medal. Olivia Holmes also medaled for the Lady Bulldogs, earning the final medal with a 20th place finish and a time of 20:58. Visahka Ho also ran in the varsity race, finishing with a time of 24:17 in 62nd place. Rolla was without senior Krista Hilmas in the race due to an injury.

In the JV race, Kate Campbell earned a medal with a seventh place finish and a time of 23:44. Faith Aguilarleon finished in 41st with a time of 27:13, while Emma Starnes finished 52nd with a time of 28:01.

Alex Frisbee was the only boy's runner to medal for the Bulldogs. He finished in 14th with a time of 16:54 in the varsity race. Noah Crutcher was the next Bulldog to finish with a time of 17:49 to place 33rd. Brandon Burris finished in 43rd with a time of 18:16, Charlie Roberts placed 65th with a time of 19:24, Wyatt Owens was right behind him in 67th with a time of 19:32, Charles Victor finished in 76th with a time of 20:01 and Johnnie Swizdor finished 88th with a time of 22:25. Those times gave Rolla a seventh place finish as a team. Sophomore Jonathan Carlson was not able to run on Saturday due to an injury.

Kylan Hunn led Rolla in the JV race in 30th with a time of 19:20. Tristan Lietz and Daniel Read finished back to back just a second apart in 80th and 81st with times of 21:40 and 21:41. Kaleb Chiles placed 105th with a time of 23:36, Wesley Sutton finished in 123rd with a time of 25:48 and Riley Troup placed 127th with a time of 26:22. Those times gave Rolla a ninth place finish as a team.

This was an important race for Rolla, as Camdenton will host the Sectional race later this season. Rolla also ran against five District schools and three Sectional schools, so they were able to see some competition they'll run into in their big races later in the season.

Rolla's next race will be at Licking on Thursday, Oct. 5.
