The St. James cross country team hosted their home meet on Wednesday, Sept. 27. It was a perfect cloudy day for cross country at the St. James Golf and they were able to have one top 10 finish on the day.
St. James was without their top male runner on the day, as Mason Parker was out for health reasons. With Parker out, St. James' top runner was Heather Pankey. The junior earned a top 10 finish in the girls' varsity race, placing seventh with a time of 22:20. Alexis Tune was the only other female runner for St. James and she placed 32nd with a time of 27.33.
Austin Ridenhour was the top male runner for St. James with Parker sidelined. He placed 29th with a time of 19:29. Zachary Deardeuff and Ethan Barnett then finished back to back in 39th and 40th with times of 20:12 and 20:18, respectively. Garret Rankin came in 47th for the Tigers with a time of 20:30 and Kadin Guese rounded out the varsity with a 52nd place finish and a time of 21:08. The Tigers placed for eighth as a team.
In the boys JV race, Drew Nappier placed 22nd with a time of 22:50, Levi Brown came in 24th with a time of 24:03 and Logan Holt finished in 27th a time of 25:52.
Steelville won the boys varsity race, taking three of the top five spots. Bourbon's Jered Nolie won the race with a time of 16:52.
New Haven had the top team finish in the girl's varsity race, but Steelville had the top two finishes. Allie Gibbs won the race with a time of 19:16, while teammate Alyssa Church was behind her in second with a time of 20:32.
Next up for St. James cross country is a trip to Cuba on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
