The Rolla cross country teams ran in their home meet on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The meet was pushed back from last Thursday, when it was too hot to safely run the event. Rolla had a fantastic showing in perfect weather at the meet, with four first place finishes and both varsity teams winning their races as a unit.

The boys got off to a great start in the five school race. Alex Frisbee broke the 17 minute mark to win the race with a time of 16:59. Noah Crutcher was close behind Frisbee in fourth place with a time of 17:54. Jon Carlson placed seventh to round out Rolla's top 10 finishers with a time of 18:16. Brandon Burris placed 13th with a time of 19:08. Charles Victor and Charlie Roberts rounded things out for the Bulldogs with 24th and 26th place finishes with times of 20:34 and 20:46, respectively. Rolla won the event as a team with 43 team points, edging Waynesville by two points.

The girls varsity race was a bit smaller with 21 runners, but Rolla still shined brightly. Emma Puetz continued her phenomenal sophomore season, winning her fourth race in as many attempts this season. She broke the 19 minute mark for the first time in her career with a time of 18:57. Krista Hilmas was right behind her in second place with a time of 20:27. Olivia Holmes also earned a top five spot, finishing in fourth place with a time of 21:22. The other three Lady Bulldog runners finished back to back to back in 15th through 17th. Visahka Ho took 15th with a time of 26:11, Kate Campbell was right behind her with a time of 26:21 and Faith Aguilarleon finished with a time of 27:55. Rolla won the race as a team with three top four finishes, but Waynesville was the only other team with enough runners for a team score.

The two other wins for Rolla came at the freshman level. The freshmen and JV ran together in the Rolla Invitational and Rolla running strong. Kylan Hunn won the boys freshman race with a time of 9:17, while Daniel Read placed fifth with a time of 10:25. Emma Starnes was the only freshman girl to run for Rolla, but she made it count with a first place finish and a time of 12:28.

Rolla had no JV girls runners, but had a slew of runners in the boys JV race. Wyatt Owens led the way for the Bulldogs with a third place finish and a time of 21:37. Johnny Swizdor finished in seventh with a time of 22:43, while Tristan Lietz rounded out the Rolla runners in the top 10 with a ninth place finish and a time of 23:24. Kaleb Chiles placed 12th with a time of 24:56, Wesley Sutton placed 14th with a time of 25:58 and Riley Troup placed 16th with a time of 28:06.

The night ended with the middle school races and Rolla had three top 10 finishers. Noah Hatfield and Colton Holmes finished in the top 10 for the boys, with Riley Slowenski placing in the top five for the girls. Hatfield finished in fourth with a time of 9:21, while Holmes placed 10th with a time of 9:36. Slowenski was anything but slow, as she placed third with a time of 10:15.

Next up for the Rolla cross country team is a trip up to Camdenton on Saturday, Sept. 30.
