The St. James volleyball team (3-9, 0-2 FRC) has played a trio of games in the tail end of last week and the beginning of this week. The Lady Tigers lost to Hermann in straight sets on Thursday, Sept. 14, before earning their third win of the season by beating Dixon in straight sets on Monday, Sept. 18 and losing to Cuba in two tough sets on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The Lady Tigers ran into a brick wall against Hermann, losing 25-16, 25-8. The JV also lost in straight sets on Thursday 25-8, 25-11.

St. James went on to play two strong sets on Monday to take down Dixon. They outlasted Dixon in the first set 25-17, before winning the second set 25-19 for their third win of the season. The JV also won in straight sets, winning 25-11, 25-17.

The Lady Tigers were a bit uneven when they faced off against Cuba. St. James struggled in the first set in a 25-15 loss, but played much better in the second set. They made Cuba earn every point, but couldn't quite force a third set with a 25-23 loss. 

"Even though it was not a win, this was the best we have played as a team all season," said head coach Julie Guese. I was very proud of every girls' efforts. They kept their intensity up the entire night and stayed positive. Each girl contributed in their own way and made lots of great plays." 

The JV played a tough three sets, winning the first 25-21, before losing the second 25-22. The Lady Tigers finished strong in the final set to walk away with a 15-13 win.

The Lady Tigers will now have about week off before they host Steelville for a rescheduled match on Monday, Sept. 25.
