The Rolla volleyball team (4-8) made the trip up to Helias for a non-conference game on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Rolla was without Megan Brown, who was sick, and had several players either recovering or in the early stages of illness in a tough 25-8, 11-25 loss.

Rolla had some issues responding to the Helias hitting game, which led to a rough night passing. Rolla had just eight hitting assists on the night, four from each Loran Pritchett and Sophie Parsons. The passing and the loss of Megan Brown led to a slow hitting game. Rolla was only able to convert on nine kills, four of which came from Shelby Ply and three more came from Rebecca Janke.

"We actually played okay," said head coach Stephanie Pritchett. "We had a hard time defending their hitting. They are an incredibly good team. We held our own even though the scores don’t reflect how we played. We again made too many mistakes passing, and couldn’t capitalize on our hitting. We were also missing Megan Brown with an illness and had a couple of other key players either recovering or getting sick. Hopefully we will be on the mend for Parkview Thursday."

Rolla will host Parkview on Thursday, Sept. 14.

The JV was able to push their game to three sets, but still took the loss 13-25, 25-17, 14-25. The freshmen fell in straight sets 25-4, 25-10.
