The Rolla softball team (2-11, 0-3 OC) traveled to Kickapoo for an Ozark Conference matchup on Monday, Sept. 11. Rolla struggled with control in a 17-2 loss.
Emalee Grooms started for the Lady Bulldogs, pitching 2 2/3 innings in the five inning loss. She allowed 11 runs, all earned, in that time on just four hits. Grooms had some control issues, walking eight and hitting three with no strikeouts to take the loss. Bailey Pierce, who just became eligible to join the varsity squad by participating in the minimum number of practices, relieved Grooms in the third inning. She pitched one inning, allowing six earned runs on three hits and four walks.
Offensively, Rolla struggled to get the ball rolling. The Lady Bulldogs collected just three base hits in the loss. Kristynn Hufford and Makenzie Proffitt each recorded a hit and drove in a run, while Alex Kitchens had one hit and scored a run.
The JV lost their three inning game 5-2. Madison Hodapp toed the rubber for Rolla, taking the loss. She was one of four players to record a base hit. Brinkli House led the JV with two hits.
