The Rolla cross country team ran in the Lebanon Invitational on Monday, Sept. 11. The event hosted varsity, JV and middle school boys and girls races, with Rolla medalling in all six races.
Emma Puetz continued her stellar sophomore campaign with another first place finish with a time of 19:44 in the 3.1 mile race. She was just one of the pieces that led to a second place team finish for the Lady Bulldogs, as all five varsity girls medalled. Krista Hilmas wasn't far behind Puetz for a top five finish with a time of 21:10. Olivia Holmes also placed in the top 10 with a seventh place finish and a time of 22:05. Vishaka Ho and Kate Campbell both earned top 30 finishes to round out the varsity girls with another pair of medalists. Ho finished in 22nd with a time of 25:10, while Campbell placed 27th with a time of 25:25.
The varsity boys were no slouches either, earning a fifth place finish as a team. Alex Frisbee led the Rolla boys with a top five finish of his own, placing fourth with a time of 17:57. He was the first of four varsity boys to medal for Rolla. He was joined in the top 10 by Noah Crutcher, who placed ninth with a time of 18:41. Brandon Burris placed 25th with a time of 19:36, while Jonathan Carlson placed 27th with a time of 19:48 to round out the Rolla medalists at the varsity level. Charles Victor and Charlie Roberts each finished in the top 45 with 39th and 42nd place finishes, respectively.
The Rolla boys won the JV event as a team with a team score of 38. Rolla had five medalists for the JV boys, led by first place finisher Kylan Hunn, who finished with a time of 12:17. Wyatt Owens wasn't far behind him in fourth place with a time of 12:49. Tristan Lietz placed 15th with a time of 14 minutes flat, while Johnnie Swizdor placed 20th with a time of 14:14 and Daniel Read rounded out the medalists with a time of 14:28. Kaleb Chiles added a 38th place finish, while Riley Troup placed 45th.
The JV girls didn't have a team score because they only had two runners, but both earned a medal for the Lady Bulldogs. Faith Aguilarleon and Emma Starnes finished back to back in 12th and 13th with times of 17:08 and 17:15.
The junior high also had a total of three medalists. Riley Slowensky placed third overall in the girls race with a time of 10:21. For the boys, Colton Holmes and Noah Hatfield finished back to back in 18th and 19th with times of 9:43 and 9:45, respectively.
