The Missouri S&T men's golf team competed in its first competition since 2003 on Tuesday finishing sixth in the Arch Cup hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis at Norwood Country Club. S&T had a total score of 616 for the completion shooting a 306 in the opening round and 310 in round two.
Austin Hoerstkamp (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) had the best two round score for the Miners to finish in a tie for 18th with a total of 151 ( 9) for the day. He was one over par (72) after the first 18 holes and then shot eight over par in round two. Blake Porter (Weldon Springs, Mo./Francis Howell) finished a stroke behind him shooting back to back rounds of 76 for a two round total of 152 ( 10) to finish tied for 21st. Mike Finnegan (San Tan Valley, Ariz./Perry) got off to a slow start in the opening round shooting eight over par but rebounded in the second round shooting a 75 to finish in a tie for 25th. Lenny Urbas (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) shot a 159 while Jeffrey Normanshot a 162.
Bryan Stogsdill (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was the next highest finisher for S&T with a tie for 35th and a two round score of 157 while Sergio Amieiro (Mexico City, Mexico/New Mexico Military Institue) shot a 169 and Jake Luett (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton)carded a 178.
The Miners are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 17 when they host the Miner Classic at Oak Meadows Country Club beginning at 10:30 a.m.
