Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Miner volleyball opens the home portion of its schedule on Thursday evening hosting Upper Iowa at 6 p.m. and then will host the Middle of Everywhere Classic this weekend.

The Miners open play on Friday against Christian Brothers at 12:30 p.m. and then will play Pittsburg State at 7 p.m. on Friday night. On Saturday they'll play Ashland at 9:30 a.m. and then their final game on Saturday will be at either 3 or 5:30 p.m. depending on how they finish in pool play.

The Miners went 1-3 this past weekend at the Bahama House Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla. Kyley Thompson (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) led a balanced offensive attack during the weekend finishing with 38 kills and recorded a career-high 18 kills in the win over Oklahoma Baptist. Carlie Combs (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) added 36 kills while Carson Talley (St. Louis, Mo./Affton) contributed 33 kills in the four matches. Sarah McGinnis (Middleton, Wis./Edgewood) averaged 6.92 assists per set while Alexis White (Auburn, Wash./Riverside) averaged 4.02 assists/set. Corinne Stulce(St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) averaged 4.31 digs per set and Emilee Schlader (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston) finished with 3.56 digs/set.

Upper Iowa enters Thursday's contest with a record of 4-0 after a successful weekend at Ferris State. The Peacocks won 12 of the 13 sets they played and swept three of their four opponents. UIU swept past Quincy in its season opener last Friday and then downed Grand Valley State in four sets. On Saturday the Peacocks swept past Northern Michigan and Davenport.

Anna Winter led the Upper Iowa attack averaging 3.08 kills per set while Malissa LeClaire averaged 9.15 assists per set and Ashley Larson averaged over 5.5 digs per set.

Christian Brothers went 3-1 during its opening weekend at its own invitational. The Buccaneers opened the season with a four set win over Assumption (Mass.) then defeated Newman (Kan.) in five sets. On Saturday the Bucs swept past Arkansas-Monticello before falling to Tiffin in five sets.

Emma Lenoir leads the CBU attack with 3.71 kills per set while Kapria Manning added 2.76 kills/set. Alexa Henderson runs the offense for the Buccaneers as she dished out an average of 9.13 assists per set. On the defensive side of the ball, Blythe Clausen dug up 71 attacks in the four matches which was good for an average of 4.18 digs per set.

Pittsburg State opened its season by going 2-2 at the Washburn Invitational this past weekend. The Gorillas split their two matches last Friday defeating Western State in four sets then fell to Missouri-St. Louis in four sets. On Saturday, PSU swept past East Central (Okla.) and then was swept by Arkansas Tech.

Lauren Regier led the Gorilla attack with 3.36 kills per set while Noelle Dooley added 2.31 kills/set. Carolina VanBuskirk and Camryn Blanton averaged 4.58 and 4.36 assists per set respectively. Defensively, Lauren Maisberger and Raven Lawlor averaged 3.93 and 3.36 digs per set respectively.

Ashland went 4-0 this past weekend at its own tournament. The Eagles won 12 of the 14 sets they played. They started the weekend with a sweep of Urbana and then defeated Truman State in four sets. On Saturday, Ashland downed Lake Erie in four sets and then swept past Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Shelby Woycik led the Eagle attack with 4.64 kills per set and was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for her performance. Sophi Cudworth contributed 3.15 kills/set. Kayla Pfeffier dished out an average of over 11 assists per set while on the defensive side of the ball Melanie Aguayo led the way with 4.43 digs per set.
