The Rolla softball team (1-5, 0-1 OC) opened their Ozark Conference slate when they faced off against Parkview on Thursday, Aug. 31. The Lady Bulldogs got a great performance from Emalee Grooms on the mound, but couldn't get their bats going in a 4-1 loss.

Grooms was lights out on the mound for Rolla. While she allowed four runs, none of them were earned. She allowed just two base hits and three walks, while striking out eight.

Offensively, Rolla outhit Parkview 8-2, but couldn't get the big hits when they needed them. Maycie Montogmery had the only RBI for the Lady Bulldogs on one hit and a walk. Kristynn Hufford led the team with two hits. Grooms, Alex Kitchens, and Kassidy Chrisco each recorded hits for Rolla, wit Chrisco scoring the lone run for the Lady Bulldogs. 

The Lady Bulldogs did manage a victory in the JV game, where they won 12-6. 

Rolla will stay in the Ozark Conference when they host Joplin on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
