Public Power Week is October 1-7. RMU is hosting their second Annual Public Power Celebration Day on Wednesday, October 4th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To kick off this event, giveaways, hot dogs, chips, and soda or water will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be a drawing for three lucky residential customers to win a credit on their utility bill.

For more than 130 years, public power has been a tradition that works across the nation on behalf of its communities and customers. Each public power utility is different, reflecting their hometown characteristics and values, but all have a common purpose: providing reliable and safe not-for-profit electricity at a reasonable price while protecting the environment.

The first full week of October every year is designated for “Public Power Week” by the American Public Power Association. Public Power Week celebrates the reliable, affordable electricity Rolla Municipal Utilities (RMU) provides to our community. Public power puts the people of Rolla first, and Public Power Week gives us the chance to emphasize the advantage of locally grown, locally owned power that supports strong communities.

There will also be equipment and displays to check out in the lower level Festival Lot, next to the Bandshell and 10th Street Bridge in downtown Rolla.
