The Rolla girls golf team played in the Crusader Classic at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Blumfield on Wednesday, Aug. 30. The Lady Bulldogs were still one player shy of being able to submit a team score, but Audrey Roberts will be eligible to play in the Lady Bulldogs' next match.
Audrey Collier led the team with a 97 in the Crusader Classic, while Marliere Toothaker wasn't far behind when she shot a 99. Jesse Coverdell rounded out the lineup by shooting a 119. Collier and Toothaker were both within 10 strokes of medaling, as the line was set at 89.
"This course played much tougher than the last with tree lined fairways, more undulating greens, and more length," said head coach Zack Nixon. "However, the girls remained unfazed and shot scores comparable or equal to the first outing."
Amber Wilson of Camdenton won the individual side of the tournament by shooting a three-over-par 75. Rockbridge edged Helias for the top team score, beating the Crusaders by two strokes with a 345.
Next up for Rolla will be a trip up to Camdenton for a match on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The match was originally scheduled to be Rolla's home opener, but the teams elected to change the location.
