The Rolla girls golf team opened their season on Wednesday, Aug. 23 when they made the trip up to the Lake of the Ozarks to play in the Camdenton Invitational. Rolla didn't have enough players to have a team score, but they had three players finish with individual scores.
Marliere Toothaker led Rolla in the tournament with a score of 92, leaving her just a few strokes away from the cutline for medaling, which was set at 87. Audrey Collier was a few strokes behind Toothaker, shooting a 97. Jesse Coverdell rounded out the group with a 117 in her first tournament ever.
Camdenton's Amber Wilson was the top player in the field of 104 golfers, shooting a three-under-par 69. Rockbridge had the top team score by shooting 344.
"The Bulldogs had a strong showing at the first tournament of the year," said head coach Zack Nixon. "Although we didn’t have enough to field a full team, our scores were a wonderful starting point for the year.
The Lady Bulldogs will remain on the road for their next tournament when they head to New Bloomfield on Wednesday, Aug. 30 for the Crusader Classic.
