As of now an active search is still underway for the inmate who was assigned to a work detail outside the secured area of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, according to a press release issued by the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael J. Schultz, age 32 of Rolla, ran away from the work detail and was seen leaving in a a white single cab, long-bed Chevrolet pick-up, with a small black roll bar in the bed of the pick-up, according to the department. Schultz left the area after entering the truck.

Further investigation by the department revealed the driver of the escape vehicle was Cole A. White, age 24. White has been charged with aiding the escape of a prisoner confined for a felony. Shultz has been charged with escape from confinement. Both are still at large.

Schultz is described as 6’02” tall, 200 pounds with a shaved head.  Schultz has ties to both Franklin and Jefferson County Missouri and is believed to be in that area.

White is described as 5’4” tall, 130 pounds.  He also has ties to both Franklin and Jefferson County Missouri, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
