The coed softball league hosted by Rolla Parks and Rec was back in action on Thursday, July 21. Offenses rolled across the league, as every game saw at least one of the team score nine or more runs.
The night kicked off on Morgan Field with a matchup between S&J Construction and Make it a Double. Make it a Double got out to a quick 6-3 lead in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a 15-8 victory.
The final two games at Morgan Field came down to the wire, starting with Ink Monkeys facing off against Make it A Double. Make it a Double struck first yet again with two runs in the second before adding another run in the third. Ink Monkeys responded in the fourth when they tied the game with three runs in the top of the frame. The lead would then be traded back and forth, as Make it a Double scored in the bottom of the fourth before Ink Monkeys scored one in the top of the fifth to tie the game at four. Ink Monkeys were able to take their first lead of the game in the sixth with three runs, but Make it a Double closed the gap with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. The lead was stretched back out to two runs when the Ink Monkeys scored another run in the seventh, but Make it a Double tied the game in the bottom of the inning with two runs to force an eighth inning. The Ink Monkeys had the last laugh, however, knocking in a run in the eighth to pull off a 9-8 win.
Things didn't get much easier for the Ink Monkeys in their second game against Alco. Alco took a 4-1 lead through the second inning, but the Ink Monkeys punched back with five runs in the third to take a 6-4 lead. They added three more runs in the next two innings to push their lead to five and held off a late push by Alco to finish off a 9-7 win.
All but one of the remaining games were blowouts, but the one close game on the other two fields was a shootout between Not Forgotten and Central MO Sportscards. Not Forgotten got out to a quick 5-2 lead in the first, but Central MO added another three runs in the second to tie the game at five. Both teams scored three runs in the third to keep the game tied. Not Forgotten had the biggest push of the game by scoring six runs in the fourth to grab a 14-9 lead. Central MO made a late scoring effort, but it wasn't enough and Not Forgotten finished off a 14-12 win.
