The Church softball league hosted by Rolla Parks and Rec was back in action on Monday, July 10. Runs were flying across the eight games, but just two of the games were decided by two or fewer runs.
The night of softball started with a matchup between Christian Fellowship and First Baptist. Christian Fellowship dominated the game from the first at bat, scoring seven runs in the first, five in the second and a staggering 10 runs in the third to run away with a 21-1 win.
The second game of the night was one of the closer games of the night between Ridgeview and Methodist. Ridgeview got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning to control the beginning of the game. Methodist fought back to keep the game close, but two runs would decide the game, as Ridgeview pulled out a 6-4 win. Ridgeview kept rolling in their next game against HC, but it wasn't quite as close. They used a a six-run second and four runs in the third to run away with a 12-5 win.
The final game on the first field was the closest of the night. FPC of Vichy and Rolla Church of Christ were locked in a shootout, but FPC controlled the game early. They scored five runs in the first to grab an early lead, which the maintained for the rest of the game. Rolla chipped away to stay in the game, but they couldn't quite tie the game and FPC of Vichy pulled out a 12-11 win despite Rolla scoring the final four runs of the game.
The four games on the second field were all one sided. Only one game was decided by fewer than nine runs and it was the first game of the night. Greentree controlled the pace of the game when they faced off against Salem Ave Baptist thanks to five runs in the first on their way to an 11-4 win.
Apostolic then thrashed Greentree #2 with an easy 15-3 win, scoring at least four runs in three different innings. Apostolic Fourth Jerome then cruised to an easy 11-2 win over Christian Church of Newburg and Spring Creek. Rolla Apostolic then smashed FPC #2 15-5 to cap off he night.
