A water main near Meriweather Court in Rolla collapsed last Saturday, July 8 at approximately 5 p.m.
The collapse of the main caused extensive damage to the street, which requires extensive repairs.
Rolla Municipal Utilities (RMU) Operations Manager Chad Davis said the damage to the main was most likely due to age, though the main in question was not scheduled for an upcoming maintenance. He said RMU is considering making additional replacements to the main as the street repairs are performed.
Davis said the first goal for the street department will be to get a drivable surface on the road, and then a final surface above that. A timeline for the repairs has not has of yet been mentioned.
The Rolla Daily News will have updates on the repairs as more information is obtained.
