What kinds of activities are going on in the area for Independence Day and where can I see fireworks?
Pulaski County and the counties surrounding it are full of plenty of fun things to do and places to celebrate America’s Independence. There are carnivals, festivals, and fireworks displays in towns all over the area this time of year.
We gathered up all the information we could find about the events nearest to our area and compiled them here.
Fort Leonard Wood: Fort Leonard Wood’s Independence Day celebration is well-known for it’s large fireworks display on the 4th of July, as well as the festival of activities available for the whole family.
Featured this year at the celebration will be country music star Kelleigh Bannen and local performer ChristiAna. Additionally, there will be food, games, and other entertainment at Gammon Field, where the celebration takes place.
The festivities kick 0ff at 3 p.m. on July 4, it’s free and open to the public, visitors are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets due to the festival seating atmosphere. Organizers are also warning attendees to bring cash to buy items because many of the vendors will not be able to accept credit or debit cards. Personal fireworks are prohibited on Fort Leonard Wood.

Richland: Shady Dell Park in Richland is having two events that can be visited. The first is the Tri-County fair where rides, fun, performances, and other events are the main attraction.
The fair went on all week and Saturday is the last day. The fair closes at 11 p.m.
Also in Shady Dell Park is the Richland Parks Department’s Independence Day Celebration being held Saturday, July 8 beginning at 5 p.m.
The evening will feature food, a live DJ, and a fireworks show beginning at dark.
Rolla: The Lions Club Carnival in Lions Club Park started Friday, June 30 and runs through Tuesday, July 4.
The carnival features rides, games, food, and fun for the whole family. Saturday night and Tuesday night, there will be a fireworks show at 11 p.m.
Saturday, the carnival opens at 12:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
St. James: Come out to the Missouri Veterans Home from 6 to 8 p.m. for free hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and water while the supplies last. Fireworks at dusk.
Vichy: July 4th Vichy Community Park, a non profit organization, will have its 8th Annual Old Fashion Celebration, with various games and contests, talent and karaoke, live music scheduled through the day, fireworks at dark. For several years a professional-grade show has been held off of the Main Channel by a private resident.
City of Eldon
This city-sponsored event kicks off with a 5K in the morning and fireworks at dusk at the Eldon Air Park.

Windermere’s Freedom Celebration will start at 5 p.m. Wendy Rogers of Main Street Music Hall will perform. Washers, face painting, noodle toss, balloon animals, dunk tank, watermelon seed spitting, penny scramble and other games will be held. Live music and fireworks at dusk. See the Lodge of Four Seasons show on board the yacht docked near the Grand Glaize Bridge. The Lake Ozark location of the Celebration will have its own fireworks show on Sunday, July 2. Boarding and departure times vary.
494 Tantara Dr., Osage Beach
Boarding begins at Dock A at 7 p.m. for a 1 1/2-hour scenic cruise ending on the water to watch Tan-Tar-A’s display. Cash bar available and appetizers are served for $30 per person.
City of Versailles
Versailles City Park, Clark Pavilion
4th of July BarBQ will be held held 5-9 p.m. on July 4. Enjoy barbecue pulled pork sandwich with chips, Lemon Italian Ice, water or soda along with games for kids of all ages and a fireworks display. Raffle tickets for four field box seats at the Aug. 24 Cardinals baseball game will be available for purchase. Winners will be drawn at the July 31 VCB board meeting. The event is a fundraiser for the Versailles Community Betterment Mural Project.
