Rolla middle schooler Izzy Frost ran in the AAU Region 15 Junior Olympics in Festus and the GO! St. Louis All American 5K event in Webster Groves the past two weekends.
Frost advanced to the Junior Olympic Games on Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11 before setting a new state record for 11-and-under girls at the All-American 5K on Sunday, June 18.
Frost ran in the 1,500m and 3,000m runs at the Junior Olympic Regional last weekend, advancing in both events. Frost finished in second place in the 1500m run with a time of 5:24 and third place in the 3000m run with a time of 11:41. The top four in each event will be headed to the 51st Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, MI in late July.
Frost then broke the state record for 11-and-under girls in a 5K by running the All American 5K in 19:10. She bet the previous record of 19:43 by 33 seconds. The Rolla native finished second in the 14-and-under age division and 51st out of more than 1,500 competitors. Frost also holds the four mile state record, which she ran on March 18 earlier this year.
Frost will be accepting donations to help fund her trip to the Junior Olympic Games later this summer. You can find her Go Fund Me page on Facebook.
