Floyd Jernigan and staff members of The Centre celebrated 15 years of operation alongside the Chamber of Commerce and their ambassadors during a ribbon cutting on June 19.

Jernigan addressed everyone prior to the cutting, thanking them for their attendance and expressing his appreciation for those who make The Centre what it is to the town of Rolla and the rest of Phelps County.

“We’re appreciative of all our members—it’s humbling to be a part of something like this,” Jernigan said. He added he is excited for the opportunity to open The Centre for an open house next month to showcase the programs and various facilities The Centre has to offer during their open house.

Admission to the Centre will be free on July 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. Attendees can sample the different fitness classes offered by The Centre and participate in Bubble Soccer while signing up for door prizes.

“One of the things we focus on is wellness,” Jernigan said. “That’s really our mission in Parks and Recreation, to provide something for everyone here in town to improve their quality of life. It’s all about living better and longer with a high quality of life.”
