On May 31, 2017, at approximately 8:32 p.m. the Rolla Police Department received a 911 call of a reported shooting incident that reportedly occurred in the 1700 block of Forum Drive in Rolla. This is what the Rolla Police Department think, happened.

On May 31, 2017, at approximately 8:32 p.m. the Rolla Police Department received a 911 call of a reported shooting incident that reportedly occurred in the 1700 block of Forum Drive in Rolla.
During the initial investigation, the victim, who was identified as Anthony J. Debar, age 25 of Rolla, reported that while traveling northbound in the 1700 block of Forum Drive, he was flagged down by an unidentified male subject. Mr. Debar, who fancies himself as an amateur rap artist, AKA “Beastmode”, reported that he thought the man might be a fan of his so he stopped to speak with him. Mr. Debar reported that as he pulled to a stop with his passenger side window down, the man approached the side of his vehicle at which time he pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband. Mr. Debar reported that the man then shoved the gun into the vehicle at him and fired one gunshot at him for no apparent reason, striking him in the hand and leg. Mr. Debar who was also armed at the time, reported that he returned fire and the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel. Mr. Debar then drove himself to the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds.
During the course of the follow-up investigation by the Rolla Police Department’s Division of Criminal Investigations Unit, investigators were unable to locate any evidence to substantiate Mr. Debar’s claims. In addition to the evidence in this case, Mr. Debar posted videos on social media with his claims of being shot by an unknown person, which resulted in the police department receiving numerous calls from alarmed citizen’s who were concerned about the alleged armed and violent suspect being at large in this incident.
As a result of this investigation, Anthony J. Debar was arrested on June 7, 2017 and charged with Filing a False Police Report. Mr. Debar was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 cash only bond.
The charge for which Anthony J. Debar has been charged with is a mere accusation. Evidence in support of this charge must be presented to a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
