The St. James baseball team (6-2) made the trip down to Vienna for a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 11. It was a pitchers dual through and through, but Evan Grayson stepped up to save the day with a bomb in the top of the seventh to give St. James a 1-0 victory.

Drew Bouse had a masterful performance on the mound for the Tigers. He pitched a complete game and allowed just two hits over seven innings. He also struck out eight batters. The only blemish on his stat line was four walks, but he was able to work around them without a problem.

Offensively, St. James struggled to get things going. They only had two hits and a walk in the contest, but one of those hits was all the offense they would need. Grayson continued his stellar senior year by launching his third home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning for the only run of the ballgame. Andrew Branson had the only other hit of the game.

Another complete game out a Tiger starter was huge, because St. James will need all the arms they can get this week. They will return to the Four Rivers Conference for a game against Union on Thursday, April 13. After that, the Tigers will start the Salem Tournament on Friday, April 14.
