The Newburg boys basketball team (17-7, 4-3 Frisco League) traveled to Richland for a Frisco League matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The Wolves slowly built up their lead throughout the game and eventually won the game 56-39.
Newburg and Richland opened the contest neck and neck, with the Bears clinging to a 10-9 lead at the end of the quarter. The Wolves came back in the second with 14 points and some strong defense, which allowed them to go into the half with a 23-18 lead.
The offense only got better for the Wolves in the third. Newburg had their best offensive quarter in the third with 17 points, while holding Richland to 11. That allowed the Wolves to continue to build their lead, stretching their lead to 40-29 by the end of the quarter.
The four quarter mirrored the third with the Wolves adding another 16 points and holding Richland to 10 on their way to a 56-39 win.
Tyler Newton led the charge on the offensive end with 22 points and Trey Gaedke added 14 in the victory.
The Wolves have one more regular season game left on their slate, as they'll head to Laquey on Friday. Feb. 17.
