The Rolla girls basketball team (7-15, 3-4 OC) had a tough task when they made the trip down to Kickapoo for an Ozark Conference matchup. The Lady Chiefs have been a dominant team all season long and that continued when they hosted the Lady Bulldogs on Monday, Feb. 13. Rolla couldn't keep up with the high-flying Kickapoo offense on their way to a 97-39 loss.

Kickapoo got out to a big lead early and Rolla had no response. The Lady Chiefs dropped 23 points in the opening quarter and buried The Lady Bulldogs quickly. Rolla managed just six points in the opening quarter and trailed by 17 points after the opening quarter.

Rolla tried to dig their way out in the second quarter with a flash of great offense. The Lady Bulldogs knocked down three baskets from long range and scored 23 points in the quarter, but they couldn't slow down Kickapoo. The Chiefs responded with 28 points and extended their lead to 51-29 at the half.

Kickapoo put Rolla away for good with their best offensive quarter in the third. The Lady Chiefs scored 30 points in the third quarter with five different players chipping into the scoring output. The shots stopped falling for Rolla and they scored just 10 points in the entire second half, while Kickapoo added another 15 points in the fourth to finish off a 97-39 win.

While no one scored in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs, they were able to spread the offense around with eight different players chipping in. Karlee Cheesman led the way with eight points, while Ellie Rodgers and Megan Brown each added seven.

"Kickapoo is a very talented and athletic team. Despite the score, I thought we did many good things throughout the game," said head coach Luke Floyd. "After a slow start, I thought we adjusted to their speed and played a good second quarter. In the second half, shots stopped falling for us and we didn't have an answer for them defensively. If we took away the drive, they hit threes. If we guarded the three point line, they drove. This is a good game for us as we prepare for the postseason."

The Lady Bulldogs have one more road conference game against Glendale on Thursday, Feb. 16, before hosting Lebanon for their Senior Night on Monday, Feb. 20.
