Phelps County Bank is pleased to announce J. Kent Robinson has been elected as the bank’s president, effective immediately. Robinson joined the bank in 2013. He currently serves as its chief legal officer and as a member of its board of directors. Robinson will continue in those roles as well.
“Kent’s promotion is consistent with the bank’s long-range succession plan,” says Chief Executive Officer David Connell. “In this increasingly complex banking environment, and with his legal and technical backgrounds, Kent has already proven himself to be a great asset to the bank and its management team.”
Robinson is a 1976 graduate of the University of Illinois and earned his doctor of law degree from that institution in 1979. He is admitted to practice law in both Illinois and Missouri. Having been raised in east-central Illinois, Robinson, attracted to the beauty of the Ozarks, moved to Rolla in 1980 and began a private law practice. He served as an owner and managing partner with the successor to that firm, Williams, Robinson, Rigler & Buschhost, P.C., until joining the bank. He remains “of counsel” with the law firm.
Before joining the bank, Robinson served as counsel to numerous local businesses, governments, and financial institutions. He is a past member of Rolla Personnel Board and served as a member and chairman of the Phelps County Emergency Services Board. He currently serves on the Rolla Community Development Corporation board of directors. Robinson has been peer- rated every year since 2009 as a preeminent attorney who has achieved the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standing. In addition to his work at the bank, Robinson continues to provide legal assistance to numerous community, non-profit organizations on a volunteer basis.
“I am honored and privileged to serve Phelps County Bank with a fine family of employee- owners,” Robinson said. “Seldom have I worked with such an enthusiastic, talented and hard- working group of individuals. I look forward to adding my small contributions to the continued success of this outstanding organization.” Phelps County Bank is a 100% employee-owned financial institution with four locations in the Rolla and St. James areas.
Robinson and his wife, Maureen, live on a small farm in rural Phelps County. When not busy at the bank, he enjoys the beauty of the Ozarks by fishing, hiking, kayaking and chopping wood.
