Kansas City, Mo. -

Make plans for an out-of-the-ordinary holiday experience at the Gardens, starting with a new event on Nov. 14 that offers ideas for decorating and cooking as well as unique shopping opportunities.

And remember that fall and winter are great times to take a garden stroll or hike the 3-mile Byron Shutz nature trail over the prairie and through the woods.

Close to Home: Holiday Workshops and Shopping, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. November 14
Get ready for the holidays with a relaxing day devoted to drop-in decorating workshops and the chance to sample fares from local artisans displaying handmade jellies, soaps, wreaths, baskets, kitchen items, garden décor, quilt work, honey products, salsa and more.

The workshops will feature table centerpieces, herbal vinegars and holiday appetizers. Café Thyme will be open for lunch. Regular winter admission applies: $7 adults, $6 seniors and $3 children ages 5-12.
