Fraternity and sorority members at Missouri University of Science and Technology will help children in foster care connect with prospective parents at the Linking Hearts Carnival on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lion’s Club Park, U.S. Highway 63 South in Rolla.
Sixty-eight children in foster care who are available for adoption will link up with the college students and meet prospective parents during the event. The children range in age from 2- to 17-years-old.
Bill Ricker, community relations manager for The Community Partnership, says the partnership has sponsored the Linking Hearts Carnival since 2002.
“It’s been a wonderfully successful event,” Ricker says. “The children love being paired up with the college students and the students are enthusiastic partners. They create booths where the kids can play carnival games and interact with prospective parents. Dozens of children in foster care have found permanent, loving homes through this event.”
