A large-scale collection for large-item recyclables is slated for 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 9, at the Brewer Science, Inc. parking lot, located in HyPoint Industrial Park near Interstate 44, Exit 189 and Highway V.

The Electronics, Appliance and Tire Collection recycling drive is sponsored by the City of Rolla, Phelps County Commission, Brewer Science, Inc., Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Meramec Regional Planning Commission.

Stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves and other appliances, as well as computer CPUs (central processing units), keyboards, printers, VCRs (videocassette recorders), cell phones and other electronics may be dropped off for free.

However, a fee is charged for tires, televisions and computer monitors.

The fee for tires is variable: $1.50 for each passenger-car tire; $5 for each truck tire; and $10 for each tractor tire.

There also is a $5 fee for every computer monitor and a $10 fee for every television dropped off.

The items must be unloaded by persons delivering the items to the collection.
